Streetart meets HipHop meets New York City meets Brooklyn – hier kommt einfach so viel Geiles zusammen, diese Bilder dürfen wir Euch auf gar keinen Fall vorenthalten (Quellen s.u.). Die aus Brooklyn kommende Künstlerin Danielle Mastrion hat gestern das „Paul’s Boutique“-Mural am Wolfnights Sandwich Shop fertiggestellt. An diesem Ort befand sich vor 25 Jahren der „Lee’s Sportswear“-Shop, den man von dem Cover eines der bekanntesten HipHop-Classic-Alben ever – talking Paul’s Boutique von den Beastie Boys – kennt. Die Ecke Ludlow und Rivington in Manhattans Lower East Side sollte eigentlich offiziell in „Beastie Boys Square“ umbenannt werden, was die Behörden in New York offensichtlich nicht wollten. Dieses Artwork wurde von der Künstlerin an nur einem Tag gefinished, es wurde von LeRoy McCarthy in Auftrag gegeben, der in der Vergangenheit solche Umbenennungs-Prozesse in New York erfolgreich absolvierte. „The campaign to rename the intersection of Ludlow and Rivington in Manhattan’s Lower East Side “Beastie Boys Square” may have been an unsuccessful one, but one fan paid her respects to the iconic hip-hop trio in a big way over the weekend. Brooklyn artist Danielle Mastrion created a mural honoring the 25th anniversary of the Beasties’ sophomore LP, Paul’s Boutique, at the very location shown on the album cover, in the LES.“
