Herzlich Willkommen auf dem offiziellen New York Fotoset-Fanblog namens WHUDAT, denn nach all den bisherigen Bilderstrecken geht es heute zurück in die 50er: der aus New York stammende Fotograf Frank Oscar Larson hat quasi sein ganzes Leben in ebendieser Stadt in den Fünfzigern dokumentiert und ein paar dieser Bilder gibt es heute hier zu sehen, wer mehr sehen möchte muss dafür schon in den Big Apple fliegen, genauer: ins Queens Museum, dort findet nämlich zu Ehren dieses Ausnahme-Fotografen vom 05.-20.02. eine Ausstellung statt. Taucht ein in das frühe New York und verspürt ein wenig den Pre-Mad Men-Spirit – enjoy:
„The banker-turned-amateur photographer Frank Oscar Larson shot in his spare time and developed his photos in his basement darkroom in Flushing. Larson was an avid, empathetic observer of the life of the streets, and in his eyes, the mundane becomes miraculous.“
