Ja, wir sind 2 Tage zu spät dran: vorgestern vor 17 (!) Jahren wurde Christopher “Biggie Smallz” Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G erschossen. Ich bin gesegnet, dass ich den ganzen Struggle seinerzeit live miterleben durfte, muss allerdings gestehen, mehr so auf der Westcoast-Seite und dort beim direkt Konkurrenten 2Pac gestanden zu haben. Biggies Skillz als einer der Brooklyn’s Finest sind aber natürlich trotzdem nicht an mir vorbeigegangen, ich hörte einfach beides. Sein entspannter Flow, seine komplette Erscheinung, sein Humor – Biggie is missing, nach wie vor. Hier haben wir nun ein Tribute-Album von dem holländischen Produzenten James McDurt für Euch, “The Brooklyn Way” heisst es. Neun bekannte Tracks in einem neuen, sehr bangerlastigen Gewand – spielt das Teil einfach mal an, ihr werdet verstehen. Birthdays was the worst days – now we sip champagne when we thirst’ay – enjoy:
