„Moon Hina“ – Kamea Hadar fertigt Gigantisches Mural der Mondgöttin von Hawaii

Im Juni des vergangenen Jahres beeindruckte uns der Street Artist Kamea Hadar mit einem wirklich sehenswerten Tribute-Mural zu Ehren des damalig noch amtierenden US-Präsidenten Barack Obama in seiner Heimat Honolulu/Hawai. Das bisher größte Werk seiner Karriere entstand ebenfalls am gleichen Ort, thematisiert glücklicherweise nicht den Nachfolger Obamas im Amt, sondern die hawaiianische Mondgöttin Hina. Seine Darstellung der holden Schönheit prangt bereits seit April an dem 14-stöckigen Gebäude der „Halawa View Apartments“. Auf etwa 50 Metern erstreckt sich dieses Monster von einem Mural auf der Insel im Pazifischen Ozean. Der Künstler selbst ließ dazu verlauten: „The image I am painting is a depiction of Hina, Hawaiian Goddess of the Moon who helps to guide sailors at sea. I felt that this image was fitting not only because of Hokulea, but also because of the proximity to Pearl Harbor. The building is directly across the street from the parking lot of the Arizona Memorial, and I felt that Hina could be a universal light that helps guide all sailors of the world home safely.“ Und so sieht die überdimensionale Moon Hina aus:

During the month of April Kamea Hadar painted his largest mural to date, a depiction of the Hawaiian Goddess of the moon, Hina, on the makai side of the Halawa View Apartments. The tower features a 165 foot tall depiction of Hina, the state’s largest portrait ever painted which is inspired by Hokulea and Malama Honua, the around-the-world voyage. The 14-story affordable housing unit that looks out onto Pearl Harbor was recently refurbished by Pacific Development Group with LEED Gold Certification.
