Jacob Banks – “Unholy War” (Video) + “The Boy Who Cried Freedom” (EP // Stream)
Das heutige Mucke-Video des Tages ist nicht wirklich tagesaktuell, dafür aber ziemlich strong und die dazugehörige EP knall’ ich Euch bei dieser Gelegenheit auch direkt mit um die Ohren: Jacob Banks (hatten wir bereits im Januar 2013 schon einmal mit der Monologue EP) mit “Unholy War”. Banks lebt in Birmingham/UK und kommt ursprünglich aus Nigeria, seine Mucke ist eine Mischung aus Soul, R&B, HipHop und ein bißchen Blues. Kritiker behaupten gerade, dass er die Soul-Musik retten könnte, was ich wirklich nur unterstreichen kann. Hört Euch diese Stimme an, alle Tracks auf “The Boy Who Cried Freedom” sind fantastisch arrangiert – eine große Bereicherung.

His production sends those Gospel shivers up your spine with plenty of piano and electric guitar, but it’s bolstered by digital touches that make Banks enough of a hybrid artist to please both sides of the electric vs. analog aisle.”
