“100 Year Old Houses” – Zsolt Hlinka Turns Budapest’s Old Houses Into Tunnels to the Sky
Der ungarische Fotograf Zsolt Hlinka hat in den Innenhöfen einiger Gebäude seiner Heimatstaat Budapest offensichtlich direkte Verbindungen in den Himmel aufgetan. Zumindest lassen seine imposanten Aufnahmen der Reihe “100 Year Old Houses” aus historischen Häusern in der Budapester Straße Nagykörút genau dieses vermuten. Die von Hlinka gewählte Perspektive interpretiert gewöhnliche, räumliche Wahrnehmung des Betrachters auf eine ziemlich beeindruckende Weise neu. The location of the series “100 year old Houses” by Zsolt Hlinka are hundred year old buildings of Nagykörút which are completely reinterpreted by the chosen perspective, changing our ordinary spatial perception. As the buildings are framing the sky, the contrast is getting maximized between geometric, sealed networks of architectural forms and the unsubstantial, infinite space of the sky. Looking at the accurately constructed, central photographs it feels like the buildings are tunnels driving to the infinity of the sky – and this is where time appears, as if the floors leading to infinity represents time and the age of the buildings.
