“Siamese” – Strange Body Morphed Self Portraits by Hungarian Artist Flora Borsi
Der Name Flora Borsi dürfte dem aufmerksamen WHUDAT-Leser mittlerweile durchaus bekannt vorkommen. Die Rede ist von der ungarischen Fotokünsterlin, welche uns in der Vergangenheit bereits imposante Serien wie Stockify, Detroit – Then and Now oder The Real Life Models bescherte. Nun kommt die kreative Dame mit einer experimentellen Reihe, teilweise ziemlich verstörender Selbstportraits mit Rahmen des Projekts “Siamese” daher. Visualisiert wird hier die innere Zerrissenheit der Künstlerin – “The Epic Battle of Good vs Evil”, quasi. Borsi selbst ließ über diese Arbeiten folgendes verlauten: “In this series, I’m trying to show my fight with myself, the other part of me. The one who is always remain silent, wants to escape, and everyone has this part in themselves. Flora Borsi’s 2016 experimental project (“Siamese”) unveils black-and-white images of the artist as she twists, morphs and duplicates herself as conjoined twins. It isn’t a remake of the famous 1800s circus act of “Siamese Twins” Chang and Eng Bunker, or a 1930s Picasso piece, it’s solely Borsi’s visual take of her inner struggle — the epic battle of good vs evil — which she explains, “the one who always remains silent, wants to escape, and everyone has this part in themselves.”
