“Melting Pop” – Ikonen der Popkultur im Mixer von Dito Von Tease
Wir haben uns in der Vergangenheit bereits vielfach von Künstlern begeistern lassen, die bekannte Werke und Figuren aus der Pop-Kultur auf unterhaltsame oder unkonventionelle Weise durch einen digitalen Wolf drehten. Auch der kreative Künstler Dito Von Tease tut im Rahmen seines Projekts “Melting Pop” ganz genau das. Bekannte Figuren wie Popeye, Shrek, Spiderman, Mr. T, E.T., Super Mario, Darth Vader, Mickey Mouse, Lisa Simpson, Salvador Dali oder oder oder… werden hier mit Alltagsgegenständen, Lebensmittel oder auch direkt untereinander gekreuzt. Die Mashups aus der Von Tease’schen Kreativ-Küche dürfen sich absolut sehen lassen. Have fun:
Melting Pop is fan art, but more irreverent. Melting Pop is geek art, but more cult. Melting Pop is culture jamming, but more disenchanted. Melting Pop is a project of creative mashups, in which apparently discordant pop-culture elements become homogeneous in their names and images. Melting Pop draws directly from the infinite repertoire of pop culture images: famous and fantasy characters, superheroes and cartoons, pop icons and everyday objects. As they are mixed, they get into new forms, well-known and misleading at the same time. Melting Pop is a two-step experimental path, in which the visual and text coexist and support each other. The first step was to combine two words between them to create a new one. So 24 original, neologic, and very globish portmanteau were born. The second step was to visualize the portmanteau, mixing images and creating 24 characters with a new identity.
