“Anomaly” – Realistic Oil Paintings of Fabled Characters and Creatures In The Modern World by Matthew Grabelsky (13 Pictures)

Der in Los Angeles geborene und in New York aufgewachsene Künstler Matthew Grabelsky kombiniert in den imposanten Öl-Gemälden der Reihe “Anomaly”, seine ihn täglich umgebende Welt mit Figuren und Charakteren aus Märchen und Mythologie. Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss in Kunst/Kunstgeschichte und Astrophysik an der Rice University in Houston/Texas, verbrachte Grabelsky mehrere Jahre in Florenz und Paris um dort seine künstlerischen Fähigkeiten und Kenntnisse weiter zu vertiefen. Seine Werke präsentierte der Künstler mittlerweile in zahlreichen Ausstellungen auf der ganzen Welt. In the vein of the TV show “Once Upon a Time” or the graphic novel series “Fables”, Matthew Grabelsky‘s oil paintings show a wide variety of mythical and fairy tale creatures in the modern world. The painting style and locations are extremely realist, but the characters and situations are surreal, which is an absolutely interesting combination. They show a mix of humans, animals, and anthropomorphic characters and many of these paintings feature human/beast couples. Seeing these creatures alongside people is both comical and cool.
