„LEGO outside LEGOLAND“ – Giant Vehicles in the Everyday Urban Landscapes of Rome // Italy

Die bunten Spielsteine von LEGO aus dem dänischen Billund, bringen nicht nur seit Jahrzehnten Freude in die Kinderzimmer dieser Welt, sondern dienen mittlerweile auch diversen kreativen Köpfen als Quelle der Inspiration. Einige bemerkenswerte LEGO-Kreationen haben wir Euch in der Vergangenheit hier auf WHUDAT präsentiert. Der italienische Fotograf Domenico Franco zählt ganz offensichtlich ebenfalls zu den erwachsenen LEGO-Liebhabern. Für ein privates Projekt brachte der gute Mann kürzlich diverse Vehikel wie Lamborghinis, Helikopter, Traktoren oder Formel 1-Flitzer in den urban Dschungel von Rom – allesamt aus den bunten Spielsteinen hergestellt …ganz vielleicht auch unter Einsatz von digitalen Hilfsmitteln?! Er selbst ließ dazu folgendes verlauten: „The aim is to transform ordinary contexts in extraordinary ones. Thus compelling the toys to get out of the idyllic and politically correct landscapes belonging to their perfect and idealistic cities, with the result of instilling in them those vices, virtues and desires typical of human beings.“ Wie genau sich das unterhaltsame Projekt „LEGO outside LEGOLAND“ von Domenico Franco darstellt, lässt sich direkt hier unten in Augenschein nehmen. Italian photographer Domenico Franco has dreamt up a series of surreal scenarios that sees LEGO vehicles parked around the ancient streets of rome. For this personal project, franco has seamlessly integrated larger-than-life LEGO lamborghinis, helicopters, tractor trailers, and camper vans making their way through the italian capital’s cobblestone roads and parking in front of the world’s most famous architectural landmarks. For ‘LEGO outside LEGOLAND’, franco has digitally introduced a series of vehicles at a miniature scale into the everyday urban landscapes of italy. a toy brick helicopter lands outside of the colosseum; a tram makes its way across a station; and a formula1 car is rolled out of a truck.
