J Dilla – „The Diary“ (Full Stream) + „The Sickness“ feat. Nas (New Video)

Heute ist das ofizielle Video von J Dilla und Nas zum Track „The Sickness“ rausgekommen und ich nehme das mal zum Anlass, den gesamten Stream des „The Diary“ Albums von James „J Dilla“ Yancey (hart gefeatured) nachzuliefern. Das Album kam am 15.04.2016 raus, nachdem es eigentlich für den Herbst 2002 (!!!) geplant war. Zum Hintergrund: J Dilla hatte einen Deal mit MCA Records über 2 Soloalben, auf denen er als Emcee auftreten würde und über die Beats von seinen damals favorisierten Produzenten rappen wollte.

Nun wissen wir alle, dass J Dilla eher Producer als MC war, außerdem hatten die Herrschaften bei MCA ein paar Probleme mit dem Inhalt einiger seiner Lyrics. Jedenfalls blieb das Album dann unter Verschluss und wurde erst jetzt, quasi 10 Jahre nach seinem Tod, fertiggestellt. Feautures auf diesem Album kommen von J Dilla himself, Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Kokane, Frank and Dank, Nottz and Boogie, für die Produktionen zeichen sich letzlich J Dilla himself, Madlib, Pete Rock, Hi-tek, Nottz, House Shoes, Supa Dave West, Bink! and Karriem Riggins verantwortlich. Das Ding gehört natürlich in jedes gut sortierte Plattenregal – viel Spaß mit mit Stream + Video:

Initially intended for release in 2002, The Diary is the final batch of unissued material that Dilla had assembled for release during his lifetime, lending crucial insight into the producer’s prowess and thought process in the period leading up to his break with the major label system and the extremely fertile period that followed.“
