“Cement Eclipses: Unfinished People in NYC” – Miniature Character Installations by Isaac Cordal

Der spanische Künstler Isaac Cordal platziert im Rahmen seines fortlaufenden Projekts „Cement Eclipses“ Miniatur-Figuren auf den Straßen diverser internationaler Metropolen. Auch in Berlin hinterließ der Street Artist seine kleinen Zement-Characters bereits. Bevor Schneesturm „Jonas“ den Big Apple vereinnahmte und den Times Square für Casey Neistat zur Snowboard-Piste machte, war Cordal für seine bemerkenswertes Projekt „Cement Eclipses: Unfinished People in NYC“ in New York City unterwegs. Er selbst äußert sich dazu folgendermaßen: „Cement Eclipses is a critical definition of our behavior as a social mass. Isaac Cordal has been leaving his sculptures of tiny cement figures in cities all over the world for years. His artworks hidden in plain sight feature gloomy people wading helplessly in puddles, other times peering through cracks in the sidewalk and concrete walls. They are part of an ongoing series that he calls “Cement Eclipses”. The Spanish artist recently updated his site with his latest works, installed in New York City in November. Titled “Cement Eclipses: Unfinished People in NYC”, the series includes his familiar businessmen in moments of despair and contemplation and new pieces that portray homelessness.
