“The New York Pizza Project” – The Heart & Soul of NYC’s Last Authentic Pizzerias

Wenn ich mich für ein Gericht entscheiden müsste, welches mir bis ans Ende aller Tage serviert werden sollte, wäre es wohl tatsächlich eine ganz ordinäre Pizza. Ein Umstand den ich höchstwahrscheinlich mit Gabe Zimmer, Nick Johnson, Ian Manheimer, Corey Mintz und Tim Reitzes aus New York City teile. Genau wie ich selbst, frönen die Dudes ganz offensichtlich einer ausgeprägten Vorliebe für die italienische Köstlichkeit. Neben dem reinen Genuss ihres Favo-Snacks riefen die Jungs vor über fünf Jahren allerdings auch ein wirklich grandioses, fortlaufendes Projekt ins Leben: “The New York Pizza Project“. In zahlreichen Aufnahmen huldigen die 5 New Yorker-Locals nämlich den letzten authentischen Pizza-Restaurants ihrer Heimatstadt sowie deren Betreibern und Kunden. Entstanden ist auf diesem Wege ein wirklich herrlicher Bildband, welcher sich hier käuflich erwerben lässt. Einige Bilder daraus gibt’s zudem auch direkt hier unten. Bon Appétit:

The New York Pizza Project is a coffee table book documenting the heart and soul of New York City’s last authentic pizzerias through photography and interviews taken over the last five years. The book, created and published by five 30-year-old native New Yorkers, is the first of its kind – focusing not on the pizza, but the people and places behind New York City’s favorite food. Over the past five years, the book’s creators have visited over 100 pizzerias across the five boroughs—taking photographs and capturing the stories of customers, employees, and owners. The project is ongoing! The team continues to hit pizza shops throughout NYC—speaking with customers, makers, and photographing everything in sight.
