“Get this Monkey of my back” – New Piece by Street Artists TELMO MIEL at NorthWest Walls in Belgium

Das niederländische Streetart-Duo TELMO MIEL aus Rotterdam hört einfach nicht damit auf, uns mit dopen Artworks zu begeistern. Allein in diesem Jahr duften wir uns bereits an grandiosen Murals in Berlin, Honolulu, Rotterdam, Port Adelaide, Perth und dem norwegischen Gol erfreuen (Features). Und die Reise der Herren Telmo Pieper und Miel Krutzmann nimmt nach wie vor kein Ende. Zuletzt machte der TELMO MIEL-Express beim belgischen Rock Werchter-Festival halt. Neben Bands wie Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, Blink-182 oder Linkin Park, leistet sich das Festival mit North West Walls auch ein internes Street Art Projekt. Internationale Künstler dürfen sich hier auf zahlreichen, aufgetürmten Containern austoben. Der TELMO MIEL’sche Beitrag trägt den Titel “Get this Monkey of my back”. Dopensen:

The duo Telmo Miel is no stranger in Belgium. This time they painted one the symbolic piles of containers of Rock Werchter’s street art project called North West Walls. Their installation is composed of 7 piled-up containers on which an elephant is painted. The realism of the animal is impressive, even though one of its ears has been replaced by a human one. Besides, the elephant seems to be annoyed by a small monkey playing cymbals on its back. The installation, which is titled “Get This Monkey Off My Back”, seems to encourage the festival-goers to simply enjoy music. The painting must be seen as an anamorphic installation, and the angle of view is crucial.
