Ich hab ja schon so Einiges an hyperrealistischen Bleistift- und/oder Buntstift-Zeichnungen gesehen und verbloggt, aber diese Artworks von Leah Yerpe aus Brooklyn/New York (es muss der Spirit sein, anders kann ich mir das inzwischen echt nicht mehr erklären!) suchen wirklich ihresgleichen. Die Künstlerin malt ihre Objekte, bevorzugt: Menschen, teilweise in Lebensgröße. Ihre Figuren erwecken den Anschein, als schwebten sie schwerelos durch Raum und Zeit, dabei gibt sie ihren Modellen für die Fotos, die als Vorlage dienen, keinerlei Anweisungen, gefordert wird lediglich ein spontaner, improvisierter Tanz. Often scaled to life-size, these figures are simultaneously floating, falling, and twisting across an ambiguous space created by the blank white paper background. The bodies carry a feeling of contradiction between harmony and discord as they push and pull each other, forming constellations on the paper’s surface.”
