“The Day After” – Nick Walker Stencil Illustrations (12 Pictures)

Unter dem Namen “The Day After” hat der britische Künstler Nick Walker (ehemaliger UK Graffiti-Artist, hatte 2008 dann in L.A. ausverkaufte Ausstellungen, hat u.a. für Stanley Kubrick gearbeitet und wird heute mit Warhol, Murakami und Marden in der “With you I want to Live”-Ahow im Museum of Fort Lauderdale ausgestellt) eine Serie von Stencil-Illustrationen veröffentlicht, bei der die Großstädte un Denkmäler der Welt (u.a. London, Tokyo, Sydney, New York, Moskau, Hong Kong, Hollywood, Bristol oder das Taj Mahal – Ihr werdet es unten erkennen) mit einer riesigen, bunten Farbfilm überzogen wurden:
“In 1992 I began to combine stencils with my freehand work, which allowed me to juxtapose almost photographic imagery with the rawness which evolved from conventional graffiti styles. Stencils introduce an impact element to my work. (…) I try to add an element of humour or irony to some paintings to add a little light relief to the walls. Painting is a form of escapism for me and if my work allows the spectator to do the same thing, then I’ve achieved more than I set out to do.”
