Fotos durch Pinhole-Technik (Lochkamera) in Apartments zu strahlen – hatten wir. Hier ein neues Projekt von Abelardo Morell, der für seine Installation großartige Bilder aus New York (Manhattan Bridge (1), Central Park (2), Times Square (6) und Brooklyn Bridge (8)), Rom (Pantheon, Bild #3), San Marco und Florence genommen hat. Viel zu geil:
“A few years ago, in order to push the visual potential of this process, I began to use color film and positioned a lens over the hole in the window plastic in order to add to the overall sharpness and brightness of the incoming image. Now, I often use a prism to make the projection come in right side up. I have also been able to shorten my exposures considerably thanks to digital technology, which in turn makes it possible to capture more momentary light. I love the increased sense of reality that the outdoor has in these new works. The marriage of the outside and the inside is now made up of more equal partners.”

Sweete Doku von thismustbetheplace über Frenchie, dem Betreiber eines kleinen Gyms in Williamsburg/Brooklyn. Seit über 36 Jahren gibt’s seinen Laden bereits dort, in der Nachbarschaft hat sich seither so gut wie alles verändert – aber Frenchie bleibt. THIS MUST BE THE PLACE produziert eine Serie von Kurzfilmen, die sich mit dem Thema “Heimat” beschäftigen, was macht aus einem Platz eine Heimat, wie repräsentiert sie einen, warum brauchen wir sie – unbedingte Anguck-Empfehlung:

Super interessantes Projekt von der Künstlerin Daniella Zalcman, die Bilder von den urbanen Landschaften News York mit denen aus London zusammenführt. Das Lustige ist wieder einmal: alle Bilder wurden mit einem Smartphone gemacht, zunächst über 100 in New York, als nächstes ging es nach London. Die fertigen Bilder wurden dann mit diversen Smartphone Apps ineinandergemerge’t, das Ergebnis ist quasi eine Widmung an beide Städte und an deren architektonische Ähnlichkeit. Inzwischen gibt es sogar ein Kickstarter-Projekt für die Finanzierung eines ganzen Fotobuches. Guckt Euch das an:

Dass der aus Brooklyn/New York kommende Fotograf Chris Ozer ein echtes Talent hinter der Kamera ist, beweisen nicht nur seine über 400.000 instagram-Follower. Er macht bevorzugt Bilder in der sogenannten Golden Hour, ein paar dieser Bilder haben ihm im September 2011 zu so einer Art Durchbruch verholfen. Diese Serie hier zeigt Bilder nicht nur zur Goldstunde, vielmehr sind Menschen ausschließlich von hinten zu sehen, also faceless. Gesichtslos würde ich Ozers Fotos trotzdem nicht nennen, es handelt sich um eine bunte Mischung aus Urban- und Landschafts-Fotografie, von der Hektik der Großstadt bis zur größtmöglichen Ruhe auf dem Land:
“There’s this old barn in North Carolina near my mom’s house that I took a few photos of at golden hour and posted to Instagram back in September 2011. I think that was the point where things clicked. The barn has a ton of character and so I started to understand what having a strong subject, and good lighting and composition can do for a photo. Von Berlin nach New York. Der umtriebige Streetartist JR ist gerade dabei, New York City mit seinen beiden Hauptprojekten zu markieren. Das “Inside-Out”-Projekt ist es, was der Franzose gerade am Times Square verwirklicht, hier haben wir für Euch ein paar aktuelle Bilder von dem wohl bekanntesten Platz New Yorks, der von JR mit den Bildern der New Yorker Bürger einmal auf links gedreht wird. Demnächst wird es zu diesem gesamten Projekt eine 70minütige Doku namens “INSIDE OUT – The People’s Art Project” geben, hier seht Ihr nochmal den (HBO-)Trailer dazu. Und dann war JR auch schon in Sachen “Wrinkles Of The City” in New York unterwegs, zusammen mit seinem Buddy José Parla, zu sehen an der Ecke 24th Street / 10th Avenue, hier auf den Bildern 7-10.

Eine herrliche Fotoserie von dem zwischen New York und Paris pendelnden Fotografen Guy Aroch, seines Zeichens Fashion-, Lifestyle und Celebrity-Fotograf. Ziemlich facettenreich, was der gute Herr abzuliefern versteht, ob es nun schwarz/weiß-Shots sind, Gegenlicht- oder Double-Exposure-Fotografie, er versteht es. Ein paar Beispiele seiner Arbeiten findet Ihr hier, mehr gibt es auf seiner Website.
“Guy Aroch moved from Israel to NYC in 1990 to become a professional photographer. In 1993, Guy graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York and began working professionally. Specializing in Beauty, Fashion and Celebrity portraits, his images are considered strong, sharp and beautifully lit. Guy is also teacher at school of Visual Arts of NYC. As Aroch puts it, “I always try to create a strong image that is somewhat different than any I have seen of my subject.” He shares his time between NYC and Europe.”

Schönes New York Status-Update in Sachen Einfluss/Klima im kreativen Bereich. Auch wenn New York als Geburtsstätte von Disco und HipHop gilt oder so namhafte Clubs wie das Paradise Garage, Limelight oder das Twilo vorzuweisen hat – in den letzten Jahren sah es bisweilen so aus, als würde New York seinen florierenden Untergrund verlieren. Was natürlich Quatsch ist, gerade wenn man sich Brooklyn oder Harlem anguckt. Was da im kreativen Bereich gerade alles so passiert, wie schnell die Entwicklung in den unterschiedlichsten Szenen vorangeht, dass man als eingefleischter New Yorker kaum mehr als eine Woche weg sein darf, um den Anschluss nicht zu verlieren – darum geht es in “Real Scenes: New York”. Super spannende Doku von ResidentAdvisor – nehmt Euch die Zeit:

Ich denke mal, das ist es. Wo man früher als Weltchef im Schloss Versailles oder der Verbotenen Stadt in Peking residierte, ist das hier das Endziel für den Weltchef 2.0: das Clock Tower Penthouse in der One Main Street in Brooklyn/New York City, mitten im angesagten DUMBO (= Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) Viertel. Ein Uhrturm, welcher nach Konzeption von David Walentas (der Mann hinter dem gesamten DUMBO-Projekt) zu einem unglaublichen Triplex Penthouse umgebaut wurde. Mit knapp 640qm auf drei Etagen bietet es einen 360°-Ausblick über Brooklyn, direkt auf die Brooklyn Bridge und Manhattan. Die riesigen vier Uhren befinden sich auf 4,2m großen, runden Fenstern, haben nur den Nachteil, dass die Uhrzeit von innen spiegelverkehrt angezeigt wird.
Jetzt mal ehrlich: ist das eine Crib? Mit Abstand das herrlichste Apartment, was wir hier bis jetzt zeigen durften. Eine Deckenhöhe von 5 bis 15m, ein gläserner Fahrstuhl, ein Irrsinn. Das Penthouse wurde 2009 mit $25 Millionen als teuerste Crib in Brooklyn gehandelt, inzwischen ist man auf $18 Millionen runtergegangen. Ich würde glatt $19 Millionen zahlen, wenn sie dafür die Uhrzeit von innen korrekt anzeigen liessen, das sollte da schon drin sein. Epic win:

Einzelne Bilder des Streetartist HOT TEA sind mir immer mal wieder untergekommen, hier habe ich jetzt mal eine Auswahl, der Typ macht nämlich wirklich außergewöhnliche Streetart: mit Garn an Zäunen. Sein Ziel war es, Public Art mit zerstörungsfreien Materialien zu machen, daher greift er statt zur Sprühdose zu Nagel und Faden, Saugnäpfen und Schablonen. Schöne 3D-Artworks, auf den Bildern hier u.a. in Hollywood oder in SoHo/New York. Unter den Bildern haben wir noch den Clip “Adding To The Existing” für Euch:
