Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl, ich müsste besonders supere Alben/EPs besonders überschwänglich umschreiben, damit der geneigte Leser auch die Großartigkeit ebendieser sofort erkennt. Aber dann denke ich wieder, dass das auf WHUDAT ja gar nicht geht, weil hier alles an vorgestellten Beat-/Mixtapes geil ist und außerdem hoffe ich, dass die Qualität sich am Ende dann auch wirklich durchsetzt. So wie bei diesem Werk hier, einem supersmoothen Remix-Album mit einigen bekannten Classics von Jurassic 5, J Live, Large Professor, Supastition, Common, Kev Brown oder Kenn Starr. Hört Euch nur den “Say Sumthin”-Remix von Kev Brown (Track #14) an – what more can I say?

Den Namen Sango solltet ihr euch ganz schnell merken. Gestern veröffentlichte er seine erste EP und hat es geschafft, das Genre des atmosphärischen Hip Hop zu (er)füllen. Dabei kamen ihm ganz sicher auch seine Aaliyah, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Drake oder Little Dragon Remix-Erfahrungen zugute:

Im August hatte ich hier den ersten Teil der “Private Beats”-Serie, der ziemlich gut ankam. Jetzt haben die beiden Herren nachgelegt und noch ein weiteres Mixtape zum Free-DL veröffentlicht – ebenso funky, ambient, experimentell – für Jeden etwas dabei. Außerdem “mit Liebe produziert”, wie sie selbst sagen:

Die Damen und Herren der “Mellow Music Group” haben es richtig gemacht: nur gute Acts gesigned, dadurch ein Vertrauen aufgebaut und immer wieder neue, qualitative Dopeness am Start. Das hier ist Has-Lo aus Philadelphia mit seinem aktuellen Projekt “Conversation B”. Gewohnt smoothe, soulful, teils ambient, teils filthy Beats (erinnern mich ein wenig an Madlib) – auf jeden Fall eher Indie-Rap, aber ich mag den Kram. Hört auf jeden Fall mal rein – MMG, y’all:
